The mission of the Indianapolis Association of Black Journalists (IABJ) is to protect and strengthen the image and journalistic integrity of the black community by promoting fairness, equal representation and advancement among media outlets through advocacy, career development and support for professional and aspiring black journalists.

We believe that black journalists citywide should bind themselves together in an effort to increase black employment in the media, to increase the number of blacks in management positions, and to monitor and sensitize all media to institutional racism, to enact and establish a constitution for the governance of our members.
